Galicia in particular and Northern Spain in general have long been considered a hidden gem in the entire Spanish tourist industry. Whereas than in other parts of the Iberian Peninsula, the climate may be quite continental and extreme, in the northwest and along the coast the weather is as expected much milder and character sea.
The Galician coast has two different characteristics in certain areas is very rugged and in others it can boast some of the beaches beautiful in Spain.

The cultural and language origins of Galicia are very much rooted within the family of communities Celtic found elsewhere in northwestern Europe.
Historically, always classed as the poor relation of some of the other richer regions Galicia had an economy that does not easily lend itself to modernization. Galicia always seemed to be a very closed and closed, which is fiercely opposed to any invasion formal external. Apart from a brief interlude in the ages 11 and 10, when Galicia fell briefly under the rule of the kingdom of Asturias, Galicia has always been an independent region.
With the Atlantic Ocean to the west and Portugal on the border with South opportunities for its inhabitants were not very often that the next. As with many of Celtic's main communities in Western Europe after a time became the main industry in migration.
Thankfully slowly throughout 20th century Galicia has begun to develop a way in which to manage the traditional lifestyles of a modern community to ensure that none of its rich history is lost.
Since you can imagine a region on the coast plays an important role, communities and major cities are on the coast of Vigo and La Coruna. Fishing is vital to the economy of Galicia and seafood is one of the best in Spain.
The coastline, cut with fjords are dotted with villages Rias fishermen. The coast was devastated by the damage caused by the 2002 sinking of the tanker Prestige has almost recovered and in some cases is almost better than ever.
Cape Finisterre, the westernmost part of the Spanish peninsula is part of the Galician coast. Within the region is dotted with ancient Celtic settlements that can found in the fog frequently cover the slopes. Other examples of Celtic tradition can be found in the many stone crosses found at junctions and intersections in entire region as also the continued use of former traditional stone granaries found in many villages.
As with other Celtic regions, the love of music and the arts is very common in Galicia and its own traditional language, Gallego, Galicia is a traditional musical instrument of the bagpipe!
The other way the Celtic tradition is also represented in Galicia is in the arts and various cultural forms. With regard to the Galician, there is a certain melancholy to their traditional songs and poetry and this too has in common with the Irish, Breton, Scottish, Welsh and other Celts. For those who have not a difficult concept to understand and see as merely depressing and boring then you have to try to understand the traditional context for the entire region and realize the centuries of deprivation that these communities have had to endure, and as a result have manifested themselves in their traditional words of the music.
